The Rules:

Gather friends (if applicable) around the television. Place alcoholic drinks within easy reach. Watch "Star Trek TOS" drinking when instructed to by the following rules. In case of confusion over whether or not to drink, always err on the side of drinking. Enjoy!

Take a sip if:

• Bones says He's dead, Jim.
• Chekov says But Keptin.....
• Chekov pronounces a 'w' like a 'v'.
• Kirk gets the girl.
• Kirk's shirt gets ripped.
• Kirk bluffs his way out of a situation.
• Kirk does the double-fisted Kirk punch.
• Kirk says Phasers on stun.
• Scotty complains about the warp speed requested/demanded.
• Scotty says The engines canna take much more a this, Captain.
• Spock looks into the viewer on the science station.
• Spock refers to the doctor as illogical.
• Spock says Fascinating or Indeed.
• Spock raises an eyebrow.
• Spock shows no reaction to a particular statement.
• Sulu sets course.
• Sulu has the con.
• Sulu confirms the warp or course.
• Uhura says Hailing frequencies open.
• Uhura opens a channel in all frequencies and all languages.
• The bridge is hit and everyone falls out of their chairs
• A red shirt dies on an away mission.
• The weapons are powerless.
• The transporter is inoperative.
• Communicators malfunction.
• The shields are about to collapse.
• Klingon and Romulan technology is mixed up.
• Someone reacts to an invisible forcefield.

Take a gulp if:

• Bones points out he's a doctor, not a (something).
• Bones antagonizes Spock.
• Checkov claims something was invented/discovered by a Russian.
• Kirk does not get the girl.
• Kirk outwits a computer.
• Kirk takes responsibility for the whole crew.
• Kirk saves the day with a stirring speech.
• Scotty pulls off a miraculous technological feat.
• Spock uses the Vulcan neck pinch.
• Spock is unnecessarily precise.
• Kyle makes his appearance as transporter chief.
• Nurse Chapel lusts after Spock.
• A red shirt survives an away mission.
• Dilithium crystals are drained/inoperative/missing.
• The Enterprise is taken over by a superior alien power.
• A newly discovered planet is Much like Earth.

Chug your entire drink if:

• Kirk violates the prime directive.
• Kirk violates time-travel protocol (one of the 17 times).
• Kirk says We come in peace and shoot to kill in the same sentence.
• Spock coldly and logically persues the mission, while Bones argues, We've got to save Jim, dammit!
• Spock hides his ears under a hat or bandana.
• Sulu gets a sword.
• Uhura sings.
• The Enterprise goes faster than it is possibly able to.
• You see a styrofoam planet or a planet with no atmosphere.
• Special effects people cannot tell phasers from photon torpedoes.
• A major character dies/is assumed dead.
• Anybody makes a historical reference to the 20th century.
• Starfleet exhonorates the crew for their violation of regulations/orders.

Drink everything in sight if:

• Kirk dies.
• Spock shows some emotion. (not while possessed by an alien)
• Spock dies.
